Twitter Has Grown on Me!

From my last posts regarding twitter, I'm sure you learned about my struggle to get into social media and post frequently. Well, after one full semester of college, I have definitely changed my mind about social media in general! I have learned quite a bit from my short time on Twitter. I definitely plan to keep up with Twitter even after my class has ended because I feel like it will greatly benefit me in the future.

I typically go on Twitter once a day; usually in the morning because it is how I start my school day off. It's encouraging to go on there in the morning and see all the great things people have posted and educational suggestions to get my day started. This makes me excited about my future career in education and really motivates me to get my assignments, quizzes, and papers done! It makes me want to do things correctly and work hard because it will lead into my career. Sometimes, I also go on Twitter later in the day if I have time to relieve stress and help me fall to sleep; Twitter is multi-purpose I suppose.

Twitter has really helped me stay in contact with other people, stay in the loop of what is going on in the world and the education system. It also gives opinions on certain elements of the system in which some agree and some disagree with. I can also access conversations and see the different viewpoints of those arguing their opinion. The only downside (and this is a downside of ALL social media sites) is that some people tend to get aggressive and forceful with their opinions. Some believe their thinking is the only correct way of thinking and that anyone who disagrees is wrong. This can lead to a lot of hate and hateful comments which are not necessary. Other then that aspect, which is seen in all social media platforms, I think Twitter is a genius way of keeping up to date with people and the world around us.

I have really learned about things to help in both an in-person classroom and an online classroom. One of my favorite ideas was a suggestion given by the website, Pear Deck. Pear Deck made an Among Us themed Algebra lesson template! If you do not know what Among Us is, it is a game similar to the game "Mafia" but it is very popular with kids/teens nowadays. It's an online game where players have to do different tasks to win. Pear Deck created a fun Algebra lesson with tasks to complete in order to win! I love this idea and I know for a fact that any kid learning Algebra this way would LOVE it. This is really a way to motivate learning, especially online when it is hard to pay attention. Here is the link for the Pear Deck tweet about this! Check it out!

Pear Deck on Twitter: "Who has students that love Among Us? 🚀 Check out this clever Among Us-themed Algebra Pear Deck from @PerezicSevdije! Reply and share your Among Us-themed Pear Decks to inspire others! ✨ https://t.co/TT6ddCzp9W" / Twitter

Finally, some of my favorite aspects of twitter are the relatable memes. Even though I am not a teacher yet, I can see it being relatable to me in the near future. I believe this to really relieve stress in a humorous form and it also lets teachers know they are not a lone in this difficult time!

Here are some examples taken from @TeacherGoals. Enjoy!
